4 Month baby Update

Now we are out of the 4th trimester and the baby blur has lifted, I want to start these updates as something to look back on and maybe others would like to read too...

Laura was 4 months old on Tuesday, from our little 8lb 2oz newborn to a 13lb little girl. We had a big, week long, growth spurt in the middle of the month which brought her forward so much. Its also resulted in not sleeping much in the day and awake for feeds every 1-2 hours through the night! but all that extra milk was worth it because she jumped straight out of the 0-3months clothes. She is such a strong little one; in the last week she has began to roll from front to back. She can now find her feet and loves to bob out her tongue. She also really found her voice that week and does a great yodel! She has the cheekiest personality and is always so smiley. Plus she is already teething too!

When it comes to her sleep the rest of the time, she has pretty much made her own routine. She puts herself to sleep between 8 and half past in the evening. Then she wakes for 2 feeds in the night around 1 and 4 then we are all up at 7 with daddy's alarm. Although sometimes she will wake earlier but she will happily lie in bed babbling to herself. She will have a short 30 min nap around 9am then between an hour or 2 at 12ish. Then a final 30mins at around half 3 -4. We have tried giving her a dream feed at 10ish but it makes no difference to her night feeds.

Her bedtime routine is to have a baby massage with her aveeno lotion for her eczema, then to get into her pj's. She will sit with daddy and watch tv till she gets hungry. She will have a feed , which will make her drowsy but not asleep and she will go down herself on the sofa. We just take her to bed when we go and she will stay asleep. Only in the last week I have started bathing her in the morning because she seems to enjoy it more and she has more energy to splash about. She would stay there all day if she could. Previously, she would cry when we got her out of the bath and got her dressed. She just doesn't want to be faffed with in the evening.

She likes to go on her play mat in the morning while I do breakfast. Then through out the day she will play with some of her toys on the sofa which she loves because she can be involved. She has other bigger toys and books on her blanket on the floor so she can roll around. She goes in her rocker chair when I'm cleaning the floors or cooking tea. We have stories and songs in the afternoon. Her favourite songs for now are row row and wheels on the bus. Favourite toys of the month are her butterfly rattle and the animals with teethers for feet. She also loves to stand and she is now tall enough for her jumperoo on the lowest setting, so we have shorts bursts in this occasionally too.
