Nappy testing!

If you follow my Instagram you will be aware that I am part of the #pampersquad. SO they have sent me this kit with instructions on different tests you can do on the nappies. Here I have used the Pampers Premium Protection, Asda Little Ones and the Aldi Mamia. All in size 3. I have personally used a pack of the Aldi and Pampers nappies before on Laura but this is my first experience with Asda's. I will keep the pictures in the same order so, Asda left, Pampers centre and Aldi Right. Prices are as follows...
Asda- 56pack £2.99
Pampers- 50pack £4 (in asda)
Aldi- 56pack £2.89
(jumbo packs are also available)
So Pampers are clearly the most expensive... but is it worth it...

Design wise I personally like Asda's Pudsey edition nappies for children in need, they are so cute! Pampers keep it simple, but they are the only ones with the wetness indicator, they also have numbered spots to show you when your little one needs to go up to the next size. The animals on the Aldi ones are cute but that band over the giraffe at the top makes it difficult to see what size the nappies are. This issue is more from my job as a nursery nurse and trying to find the right size for each child form a selection.
Here you can see the pockets on the inside of the nappies. You can see on the Asda nappy there are small holes to help the liquid absorb, the material is also very soft. Pampers clearly has larger holes and is also soft. Then Aldi doesn't have any its more like a plain sheet, this feels slightly rougher than the others.

The next test was to pour 100ml of water on each nappy. After 60secs wiggle it round and squeeze it as a baby would move around, then to feel the nappy. Here you can see the nappies after being wet. Firstly none of the nappies released water when squeezed.
Adsa's nappy felt soft and held the water well to feel almost dry against the skin. Pampers felt dry however you could feel the weight more, not sure if they use a sort of gel to absorb the water but it felt more firm than the others. Also the top layer with the holes in becomes sort of loose, unsure why. The Aldi one felt the wettest. against the skin.
In my experience with Laura, I found her to have much more redness when using the Aldi nappies and she also leaked quite a lot. I honestly never had any issues with the Pampers ones, other than the fact I personally would not want to spend over the odds if I can find a decent substitute. Asda seem to be doing a good job with these tests, but I will try them on Laura soon. I have also recently tried the rebranded Lidl nappies and have been really impressed with those too.
Hope this helps guys and please leave your comments here, or on my insta post with your thoughts and opinions. Feel free to try these tests at home and let me know your results. Otherwise let me know if you would like me to do this again with other brands.
See you soon,
Natalie
